A Better Life

Glaucoma

Glaucoma is a slow disease which damages the optic nerve of the eye. It is the second leading cause of blindness. When optic nerve fibers are damaged, blank spots begin to appear in the field of vision. As the disease progresses, the spots become larger and eventually blindness may result.

Glaucoma Treatment & Surgery

Eye surgeons at Klein & Scannapiego are highly skilled at diagnosing and preventing the progression of glaucoma. We use sophisticated imaging programs and tonometers to detect high levels of intraocular pressure (IOP), the main symptom of glaucoma. If glaucoma is detected, our glaucoma specialists can slow the progression of the disease by relieving intraocular pressure with medication or surgery.
Early detection and treatment can protect your vision from glaucoma. You should have a complete eye disease screening by age 40 and if you are 45 years or older, schedule an eye exam every year with our ophthalmologists to check for the presence of glaucoma.
To find out if you have glaucoma, please call one of our offices to make an appointment.
