LASIK

iLasik

LASIK is a laser vision correction procedure that treats refractive errors, such as nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism by removing corneal tissue beneath the surface of the cornea. PRK is a similar procedure that treats low to moderate amounts of nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism by removing tissue from the surface of the cornea.

Eye surgeons at Klein & Scannapiego perform LASIK and PRK surgeries with the latest LASIK technology called iLASIK. In iLASIK, we use wavefront mapping to get a “fingerprint” of your eye and a customized correction is then performed based on this detailed information. In the past, corneal tissue was removed using a blade. In iLASIK, we use an IntraLase® laser to section the cornea, reducing the risk of complications caused by using a blade. Thus, iLASIK is safer and more effective than the original LASIK procedure.

No stitches or eye patches are required after iLASIK and the healing time is fast. In fact, most patients are able to return to their regular daily activities the day after the procedure. The results of LASIK are long-lasting, so you can view the world with clear, crisp vision for years to come!
